The infield at Bristol Motor Speedway remained virtually unchanged - still cramped and crowded with race haulers and service buildings (media center in at left).

While the track surface was replaced at Bristol, the infield buildings were not. Here's the Goodyear compound in Turn 3, whose roof also serves as Victory Lane for the track.

Truck Series driver Terry Cook puts a level and a digital angle finder to work to determine the banking of the new Bristol Motor Speedway for his HT Motorsports Team engineering data.

While advertised at 36-degrees of banking in the corners, this digital angle gauge shows the banking at the top of the new concrete surface half-mile oval is actually 27.8 degrees. The middle groove measure out at 25 degrees while the bottom groove had 22 degrees of banking.

It's hard to imagine Bristol Motor Speedway as an 18,000-seat, asphalt paved oval, but that's exactly what it was when it opened in 1961. Today, the track features 160,000 seats and a new concrete racing surface.
