After ranting about rules infractions, sub-par television ratings, and bad tires throughout the first part of the NASCAR season, we thought it would be fun to take a trip down memory lane and
remember a simpler time when stock car racing wasn’t so ‘sophisticated.’
That said, we made a visit to the North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame in Mooresville, NC last week. The facility, located just off I-77 at exit 36, provided a couple hours or reminiscing among its 35 cars, dozens of displays, and countless artifacts.
Two cars particularly caught or eye – a Richard Petty Chevy Monte Carlo (that’s right, the King wheeled a Chevy for awhile) and a Curtis Turner 1950s vintage Ford NASCAR stocker.
Both cars, along with a number of other shots of the NC Hall of Fame, are included in a 29-image gallery posted today in the Close Finishes Photo Gallery.
Just click on the link below to visit this gallery and once there, click on any image to enlarge or start a slide show of the entire gallery. While you are there, make sure you check out the more than 30 other racing, vintage and custom car photo galleries posted on CloseFinishes.com.
As always, thanks for taking a look.
Expect the rants to be back next week after the first-ever Car of Tomorrow race at Bristol.
